Instructions for ordering Shinai

Limited to the capability of quick processing of Shinai orders, now we only accept Shinai orders via survey/e-mail. Sorry for any convenience caused. Please read the instructions and complete the survey to order Shinai for yourself or your Dojo. Many thanks for your support.

Supply of Shinai

During the past year we have been cooperating with several different Shinai suppliers. By evaluating their product quality and processing efficiency, some adjustments have been made to the supply of Shinai.

We mainly cooperate with a Shinai factory located in China (one of the largest around the world, which exports thousands of Shinai to Japan and other countries every month), and also order Shinai from a Japanese partner supplier to provide more options.

We are now working on the stock, then it’s promising to have hundreds of in-stock Shinai in early 2025, which means you don’t need to worry about the unexpected delays caused by international shipment or custom clearance.

New Selection Mode

In the past we accept full customisation for all Shinai orders, which often contributes to an uncertain duration. As a result, we now provide a Shinai list with all available models with their detailed specifications, which will be updated irregularly.

For those who really need their own Shinai (super unique and customised), we are now cooperating with individual workshops, which provide customisation service with a relatively higher cost but more reasonable work duration.

Ordering Process

For personal orders, please pick up what you’re interested in from the latest price list and complete the survey. We will reply with the estimated duration and further information if there is any customisation. Once everything confirmed, please provide the delivery address and contact information (phone number and e-mail address). The invoice will be sent then, which means you successfully place the order.

For Dojo/club orders, the processing duration might vary. Please contact for more information. To avoid a strong delay, please do not make complicate customisation on Shinai of a bulk order. The further process will be same to that of personal orders.

To complete the survey, please provide the Shinai NO., size and quantity of the corresponding model and any other customisation details like engraving.

Shipping

For some basic models that we have stock, the delivery will be completed within one week (usually 3~5 days during non-holiday and non-strike periods).

For all other models, besides the processing duration, it takes up to two weeks for them to arrive in UK. Then we aim to ship them to your address within 3 working days.

For Shinai orders of 2 or less pieces, shipping fee will be charged according to actual costs. For Shinai orders of 3 or more pieces, we will cover all the shipping costs.

Please note:

  1. Junior size is available only for Shinai NO. 1 and 2. Please contact for the price.

  2. BIO/smoked customisation is available for all Shinai models from China.

  3. For Shinai sent from Japan, there might be several options for one type of Shinai. Please contact for catalogues.

  4. Bokken (both Tachi and Kodachi) is available. Please contact to check the stock.

  5. For Shiai-use Shinai, weight customisation is available. Remind that the light-weight feature might affect the durability of a Shinai.

After-sales

All Shinai sold from Crux Kendogu meet the quality and safety standards of Shinai (i.e. no significant safety hazards). However, we cannot guarantee how long a Shinai will remain intact. A Shinai may be damaged in the first Keiko it is used for, or it may survive for a year or even longer. Even those most luxurious Shinai follow this rule.

Considering the complicated cases of problems in Shinai use, unconditional returns or exchanges are no longer applicable. Instead, we will collect all Shinai damage information and report to the manufacturer.

Since Shinai is prone to weight loss during transportation and storage, we usually control the weight of Shinai above the competition standard. When ordering a light-weight Shinai, please be sure to consider that the durability of the Shinai may be reduced.

A blog about Shinai (maybe other Kendogu as well) maintenance is in preparation.

Complete and submit the form for a quote. Note that tsuba & tsubadome is included, and the shipping cost will be calculated based on the quantity.
